Registration is mandatory for every Char Dham pilgrim. The Uttarakhand government issues a free yatra registration that is checked on the way to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Without it you can be stopped at a checkpoint.

Help line: 0135-1364. Offline registration counters also open in Haridwar, Rishikesh and along the route in the season, but they get long queues; register online before you leave home.
Step by step
- Sign up with your mobile number and verify the OTP.
- Add every traveller with name, age, gender and a photo ID number (Aadhaar, passport or voter ID).
- Choose the Dhams you will visit and your dates for each.
- Submit and download the registration letter with its QR code.
What to carry
- The registration letter, printed or on your phone.
- The same photo ID you registered with, for every traveller.
- Your vehicle documents and driver details if you go by your own car or a hired taxi.
When registration opens for 2027
Registration for each season usually opens a few weeks before the shrines open in April or May, after the opening dates are announced on Maha Shivratri and Basant Panchami. Dates are only booked once registration opens; any site taking "advance registration" before that is not the government.
