Common questions

Kailash Mansarovar questions

Which Kailash Mansarovar Yatra routes are there?

Overland from Kathmandu via the Rasuwagadhi border, Kerung and Saga, 12 nights and 13 days at USD 1,790 per person; via Nepalganj, Simikot and Hilsa from Lucknow, 17 nights and 18 days; or the Kailash Door Darshan, an aerial darshan by chartered flight from Lucknow in 2 nights and 3 days, from ₹51,000 per person.

How difficult is the Kailash parikrama?

It is three days of trekking, about 47 to 52 km in total, crossing the Dolma La Pass at around 5,636 metres, with basic stays in Tibet. Good health is needed and a doctor's advice before booking; horses or yaks can be hired on site at extra cost.

Which documents and permits do Indians need?

A passport valid for at least six months. The Chinese Group Visa and Tibet permits are arranged for the group, with passports collected in Kathmandu for processing, and travel insurance covering high altitude and evacuation is required.

Can senior citizens do the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

Yes, with medical clearance: a fitness certificate is required for pilgrims above 60, and horses are available on the parikrama. The Kailash Door Darshan needs no trekking at all and is designed for senior citizens and pilgrims who cannot manage high altitude.

When does the Kailash Door Darshan fly?

One departure a month from September 2026 to March 2027, with the February 2027 departure as the Mahashivratri Special on 13 February 2027. A window seat costs ₹61,000 per person.
