Why Sikkim and Darjeeling in July Beat the Peak Season
Most people skip Sikkim and Darjeeling in July. Here is why not to: the greenest tea gardens of the year, waterfalls in full flow, cool misty days and far fewer crowds.
In July the hills come alive. Darjeeling's tea gardens are at their greenest, clouds drift across Sikkim's mountain roads and the waterfalls run full.
Monasteries, cafés and viewpoints are far less crowded than in peak season, and Darjeeling stays cool and misty, around 12°C to 18°C, which makes for dramatic skies and good photographs.
