Where is Gartang Gali?
Gartang Gali is in the Nelong Valley of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, beyond Harsil on the old trade route to Tibet. It is a wooden walkway built into a sheer cliff above the Jadh Ganga.
How do I reach Gartang Gali?
Drive from Dehradun or Uttarkashi to Harsil and on towards Bhaironghati, then walk to the stairway. Most visitors stay the night at Harsil.
Do I need a permit for Gartang Gali?
Yes. The walkway lies inside the Gangotri National Park area, so an entry permit is required. We arrange it as part of the trip.
When is Gartang Gali open?
It is usually open from spring to autumn. Winter snow closes the approach, so plan between about May and October and check the latest status before travel.
Is Gartang Gali included in a CareMyTrip package?
